Newsweek magazine has included 28 Minnesota schools in its 2009 "America's Top High Schools."
The magazine ranked 1,500 schools by a system that compares the number of Advanced Placement tests taken with the number of graduating seniors.
East metro schools on the list are St. Anthony (ranked 510), Eastview (601), Como Park (647), Mahtomedi (657), Lakeville North (843), Central (853), Irondale (936), Simley (1,131), North in North St. Paul (1,216), Stillwater (1,275), South St. Paul (1,297), Eagan (1,308), Sibley (1,350) and Mounds View (1,443).
St. Louis Park grabbed the state's highest spot at 107, followed by Edina (111) and Southwest (232).
Schools are asked to apply if they previously have made the list or show signs of making it during the current year.
