Winterfest
Coronation will take place during the Pepfest on Thursday February 9th. The DANCE will be February 10th in the cafeteria from 7:00-10:00pm. Tickets will be sold during lunches or in 1216 before and after school February 3 through Thursday, February 9th. Cost will be $6 in advance and $10 at the door.
The DANCE is a semi-formal activity. Theme days are as follows: Monday Sports Jersey Day Tuesday Formal Day Wednesday Twin Day Thursday School Spirit Day Friday Flannel Day

Genesys Works and Como Park All-Stars
Como Park topped all schools with 17 students and last year increased that number to 24!
Scholarship Winners!
This year we again have 2 winners of the Beat the Odds Scholarship! This is a $4500 scholarship that is given to 4 Minneapolis/St. Paul students who have truly overcome adversities-and we have 2! Winners this year are: Raymond Perez, Annie Sinner, Megan Jacot is another student who applied for the scholarship and won the $500!
Como has 3 Optimist Award Winners who received a $1500 scholarship!! Congratulations to Raymond Perez, Ta Da Loo, and Wah Wah. Check out the Pioneer Press article about them.
Como Debate Team takes 1st place!
Urban Debate League featured on Kare11 starring CPSHS's very own Guleed Ali and Maci Bekele
Como's novice debate season has come to a close, ending with this past weekend's Urban Debate League Championships at Augsburg College. We had two teams break to quarter-finals: Stryker Thompson & Yassin Ahmed (varsity) and Dezii McKitterick & Hibak Mohamed (novice) In addition, we had four students win speaker awards: Stryker Thompson (8th place, varsity), Guleed Ali (11th place, varsity), Dezii McKitterick (14th place, novice), Zach Klinkenborg (15th place, novice) Our varsity team (Dai'Quan Robinson & Stryker Thompson and Maci Bekele & Guleed Ali....and Yassin Ahmed & Troy Murphy) continues to work hard. They have a big national tournament this weekend, and then will start preparing for Sections, State, and National qualifiers, all of which take place in January.
Como MCJROTC takes 1st place!
Once again, this past weekend (Saturday 29 Oct) our cadets outperformed the field and earned 1st Place out of 9 schools (3 Marine Corps, 2 Navy, 2 Army, 2 Air Force) coming from the local area, Iowa, and South Dakota. If you didn't know, we competed in Physical Fitness (Pull-ups, pushups, crunches, and a 300-yard Sprint), Uniform Inspection (appearance, bearing, knowledge), First Year Cadet Drill, Color Guard, Unarmed Varsity Drill, Map Reading, and Exhibition Drill. Congratulate all the cadets; especially, Ellen Vue/12 (Unarmed Varsity Drill) - 1st Place Kashesha Xiong/11 (Color Guard) - 3rd Place Ger Lor/10 (First Year Cadet) - 1st Place Ching Fang, Roosevelt Yang, Andy Moua/10 (1st, 2nd, 3rd) in Male Fitness Sheng Xiong, Fiona O'Leary, and Der Vang/11 (1st, 2nd, 3rd) in Female Fitness Clover Eckert & Abdullahi Ali/11 (1st Place) Map Reading
