Practices for the 2015 season have begun. Early season practices are being held Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Como Park High School pool. Optional practices are 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturdays. Once school has started, practices will be held from 2:15 to 4:45 p.m.
Late registration is possible; talk to Coach Conery. All interested swimmers are encouraged to come out for the team; we'd love to have you. Paperwork for registration is available in the athletic department office. You will need to have a current physical (within the last three years) on file, fill out the eligibility form, fill out a health questionnaire, and fill out a registration card. You'll also need to pay the sports fee, $55. All this must be done before you will be allowed to practice.
Como Park High School's swim teams welcome beginning and experienced swimmers to some out for the team. Seventh- and eighth-graders are eligible for the team too. New swimmers are not required to be proficient in all of the race strokes, but being able to swim at least 50 yeards (two pool lengths) is highly desirable.
Swimming runs from mid-August to mid-November for the girls' team. Registration information for joining the team, including the participation fee amount and the opening date for practice, generally is posted on the athletics page by late July.
