Mr. John Fischbach

Hello, my name is John Fischbach. Prior to coming to Saint Paul Public Schools, I worked for eight years as a chemical and mental health counselor at the Hazelden Foundation. I spent time working with young men and woman that struggle with chemical health issues. I began my teaching career at Como Park Senior High in 2014.

My educational background includes an undergraduate degree from University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. I earned my graduate degree in Counseling from Hazelden Graduate Schools of Addiction Studies and a second Masters in Education at Bethel University. I am a licensed educator with the Minnesota Department of Education as an Academic and Behavioral Specialist and Developmental Disabilities.

When I'm away from school I enjoy spending time with my wife, my two daughters, and two dogs. My recreation and leisure time is spent in sports and in the outdoors. I enjoy fishing, hunting, playing hockey, and broomball.

Over the past decade of working with young people, I've seen many changes. The one thing that never changes is the satisfaction I get out of helping students who are willing to make positive changes and invest in their education. Teaching is a challenge but that’s what keeps me coming to work everyday!

I grade my students using Schoology.
