Sergeant Major James C. Kirkland

Hi everyone, my name is Sergeant Major James C. Kirkland and I am a United States Marine Instructor at Como Park Senior High School. I volunteered and served the United States Marine Corps for thirty years. This year I will be teaching MCJROTC-9, MCJROTC-10, MCJROTC-11 and MCJROTC-12 along with being involved in a number of extra-curricular activities. I coach all the MCJROTC teams of Close Order Drill, Physical Fitness, Junior Leadership Academic Bowl, Orienteering and Cyber Patriot. The cadets get 110% of my Honor, Courage and Commitment. I challenge you to develop your teamwork, leadership and character this school year. Semper fi – Latin for Always faithful.

Fun Facts about me:

- I lived in Nepal, Austria, and Japan during my time in the United States Marine Corps.

- I spend in avid amount of time at Como Park developing the leadership of cadets.

- My wife of 25 years is Nepalese.

- My primary hobbies outside of school include God, family, hiking, biking, camping, skiing, motorcycles, and occasional travel to enjoy the beauty of this great country.
