Ms. Deborah Kozak

This is my 28th year in Saint Paul Public Schools and my eighth year teaching English at Como Park Senior High School. I am a proud second-generation SPPS teacher. I currently teach English 11 and AP English Language & Composition.  I am also the advisor for the Cougar Journal, a student-led literary and art journal that is published each spring.

I spent the first 11 years of my career at Highland Park Senior High, where I taught all levels of English, including English 11 and 12 International Baccalaureate (IB). Then, I spent the next nine years working in the district's Technology Services Department as a Technology Integration Specialist.  I worked with teachers on integrating technology in their classrooms, and worked behind the scenes to plan and implement one-to-one iPads in Saint Paul Public Schools.

When I am not at school, I like to spend time with my family. I enjoy gardening, reading, cooking, golfing, and watching sports. I also like to dig around on the web and help my dad with genealogy research. I love to try new recipes, and am proud of the fact that I am the one to carry on the family food traditions. I am a huge Como Park, Vikings, Wild, Twins, and Gophers sports fan.

My husband, Kevin, and I live in Brooklyn Park. We are guardians of his younger brother, Craig, who lives with us.

I love the Como community, and am excited to get to know and work with my students.
