Tran, Huy

Mr. Tran

Hello! It is great to be with you all here at Como Park Senior High School! I am excited and looking forward to working with all of the talented students here at CPSHS!

My name is Mr.Tran, and I am the Vocal Music and Beginning Piano Instructor! I am currently in my 2nd year of teaching, having most previously taught at Montevideo Public Schools serving as their 5-12 Vocal Music Instructor. I obtained my Bachelors of Arts in Vocal Music and Secondary Education from the University of Minnesota Morris (Go Cougars!) under the direction of Dr. Bradley Miller. I am originally from Blaine, Minnesota. I graduated from Blaine High School and received my Associates in Arts from Anoka-Ramsey Community College in 2018. I have been very fortunate to have studied under some of the best choral instructors in the state of Minnesota. I was selected to be a participant as a student conductor as part of the ACDA (American Choral Director's Association) summer dialogue led by Axel Theimer at St. John's University, and most recently was given the fantastic opportunity to work as a section coach with the 2023 Tenor/Bass (TTBB) All-State Choir this past summer.

At Montevideo Public Schools, I led the concert choir to a "Superior" rating at Large Group Festival, as well as 22 events that all received "Superior" ratings at Solo and Ensemble Festival. I also directed (along with a lot of help) the most recent musical at Montevideo: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

In my free time, I am usually hanging out at home with my partner and our dog (Raven) and our cat (Pepper). I enjoy watching sports (Football and MMA), and really enjoy bowling. I also love learning about astronomy!

My goal as a music educator is to ensure that all students receive the music education that they deserve. I am still learning the ropes as a 2nd-year teacher, but I will ensure that I will do my best to give the students the best education that I am able to provide. I also want to teach students how to be excellent, not just in music, but in all the things they do in their lives.

I am looking forward to creating some beautiful music and developing connections with you all!
